Opting to bat first at Newlands in Cape Town, Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC) showcased their batting prowess by posting a formidable 204/3 in 20 overs against Durban Super Giants (DSG). Tom Abell contributed a solid 55 off 34 balls, while captain Aiden Markram remained unbeaten with a quickfire 42 off 26, and Tristan Stubbs added a valuable 56 not out off 30 deliveries.
In response, Keshav Maharaj led Durban Super Giants faltered and were dismissed for 115 in just 17 overs. Wiaan Mulder emerged as their top scorer with 38 off 22 deliveries under the leadership of Keshav Maharaj. Left-arm pacer Marco Jansen turned the game on its head with a sensational bowling performance, claiming impressive figures of 5/30. The moment Jansen dismantled the stumps of Reece Topley, Kavya Maran erupted into ecstatic celebrations, marking her team’s resounding 89-run victory.
